002: Anonymizing Using Whonix

Steps to anonymize yourself using the whonix gateway

1.     Download 'whonix gateway' NOT 'whonix workstation'. You can choose xfce or cli as per your expertise. It's an .ova file and ready to import in VirtualBox. Link: https://www.whonix.org/wiki/VirtualBox

2.     Import the downloaded .ova file in VirtualBox.

3.     Install any other linux (say Kali linux) machine in VirtualBox.

4.     Start whonix gateway & Kali linux.

5.     Log in to Kali linux.

6.     Open /etc/network/interfaces and add the following lines at the end:

iface eth0 inet static

       address 10.152.152.11

       netmask 255.255.192.0

       gateway 10.152.152.10

7.     Open /etc/resolv.conf and replace all text with following text:

nameserver 10.152.152.10

8.     Go to VirtualBox menu Devices > Network > Network Settings and select Internal Network under Attached to and select Name Whonix.

9.     Set eth0 interface down by ifdown eth0.

10. Set eth0 interface up by ifup eth0.
